The 23rd Annual Kamloops Film Festival is officially one week away!
During ten days of movie magic, the event will conquer the Paramount Theatre showcasing nearly 40 feature films, shorts, and kid-friendly flicks from creators around the province — and even the globe.
Executive Director of the Kamloops Film Society, Dusan Magdolen, has been at the helm of the event for the last five years, operating under the mantra of bringing “something for everyone, everything for someone.”
In addition to the usual avant-garde or indie films you’d come to expect from a film festival, the event will highlight a vast variety of genres including documentaries, horror and uplifting comedies.
“We try to cover the globe as best as we can and cover genres as best we can — but the biggest thing is showing the best films we can,” said Magdolen.
Attendees can enhance their experience by diving head first into the festival and a variety of associated events.
Post-film discussions will be hosted at a number of downtown locations like Red Collar Brewing Co., a performance from circus/sideshow group Caravan of Curiosities and even a family-friendly party at the Kamloops Art Gallery prior to an interactive “Frozen” sing-a-long, are on the docket for the festival.
The event will kick off on March 7 at 6 p.m. with a red carpet greeting prior to a showing of “This Mountain Life," the first film of the event.
Whether your a fan of documentaries, are eager to see the latest in horror at Dark Fest or want a fun way to spend time with the family, Kamloops Film Festival is a great way to immerse yourself in the arts.
