Kamloops Fire Rescue wants to hear from the community as it aims to enhance its service levels and emergency response capabilities.
According to a release from the city, the department is undertaking a thorough Community Risk Assessment and Standards of Cover initiative.
It is designed to identify and analyze the unique characteristics of our community, conduct an all-hazard risk assessment and develop response strategies tailored to Kamloops.
"We are committed to continuously improving our emergency response capabilities and ensuring the safety of everyone in our community," said Fire Chief Ken Uzeloc of Kamloops Fire Rescue.
"The insights gathered through this initiative will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our department and enhancing our ability to serve the needs of Kamloops residents."
Some other objectives of the initiative include:
Evaluating historical quality of emergency response performance
Identifying areas of success and improvement
Establishing benchmark levels of service approved by city council
Balancing industry standards, best practices and community needs to settle on acceptable, appropriate and affordable level of service
The outcome will help the city prepare the 10-year Kamloops Fire Rescue Master Plan.
Kamloops Fire Rescue will be engaging with local businesses and residents to gather feedback including expectations, experiences and interactions with emergency services, the release says.
All the feedback will also be reviewed and taken into consideration when preparing the final Master Plan.
Recommendations will be presented to the city council later this year.
Online and paper surveys, which are available at city hall or fire station 1, are being accepted until midnight on Mar. 31.
You can also contribute two key questions or partake in a quick multiple-question poll, which are both available on the city’s engagement website.
