Kamloops MMA Champion stops alleged truck thief with Jiu-Jitsu

A 2x MMA Champion living in Kamloops showed an alleged thief why it is not okay to take things that don't belong to you.

According to a Facebook post from Chad Freeman, he subdued a man who stole his truck, putting him into an "S mount with a lapel choke." Freeman used the Jiu-Jitsu to hold the alleged thief down until Kamloops RCMP arrived.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie confirmed that police attended the scene and found the man subdued.

"A truck was reported stolen on July 8th at around 4:45 a.m.," said Shelkie. "At 9:30 a.m. on the same day, we received a report that a friend of the victim had located the stolen truck."

"When officers arrived, the owner of the truck was holding the suspect for the police."

Shelkie adds that though the victim's actions aren't recommended, they did work out this time.

"You don't know, they could be as trained as you are, they could be more trained in fighting, they could be armed or even have some kind of communicable disease that you don't know about."

Shelkie went on to say that the suspect was arrested and all investigative information has been forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service who will determine if there are charges.
