Kamloops RCMP advise of ongoing response near Kootenay Way, 3 arrested

The Kamloops RCMP are advising residents of an ongoing police presence near Kootenay Way Wednesday afternoon.

A news release says Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP officers began an investigation into a report involving a weapon earlier in the day, which led them to a house near Kootenay Way And a motel on Columbia Street.

Three people were taken into custody and no suspects are outstanding, the release says.

Police will remain in the area of the house near Kootenay Way until they obtain a search warrant, however, Cpl Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson, says the public is not believed to be at risk.

“Due to the reported presence of a firearm and the subsequent increased risk assessment, police requested the assistance of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

“The team was able to help safely clear a residence, as well as take two of the three suspects into custody.”

Anyone with information that may be related to this ongoing investigation is asked to call the Tk’emlúps or Kamloops RCMP Detachment and reference file 2024-11135.
