The RCMP are asking any witnesses of these incidents to call the detachment at (250) 828-3000 and be sure to refer to the accompanying file number.
A man was arrested just before 10 am on Saturday near Tranquille Road and Strauss Street. The responding RCMP officer said he noticed a man carrying a crossbow and arrows. During the arrest, more than 25 grams of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine were found. The man was arrested, the items were seized and he was later released without process.
Later that day, around 2 pm, RCMP officers were called to a restaurant in the 1700-block of the Trans Canada Highway East in Valleyview for a report of a person believed to be in possession of a firearm. Officers found a suspect behind a dumpster. What was believed to be a firearm was actually a lighter. Police said it resembled a realistic looking revolver. The lighted was seized along with a large knife found on another nearby person.
On Sunday morning, around 11 am, RCMP officers were called to the 200-block of Victoria Street for a report of a man causing a disturbance and making others feel unsafe, police said in a news release. A suspect was located but allegedly refused to give his name to the officers. He was arrested for obstruction before attempting to flee from police but was quickly taken into custody.
Police said they found a weapon in his possession, which contradicted his release order. He was held for court.
