(UPDATE: May 7 @ 4:30 pm ) – The Kamloops RCMP are providing more details about a suspect vehicle seen leaving the scene of a shooting Monday night.
According to a news release issued Tuesday afternoon, Mounties say they are releasing stock pictures of a grey, 2000s model Honda Civic that may be connected to the shooting at a motel on Columbia Street.

According to the news release, a grey Honda civic was found abandoned on Ord Road at about 12:35 am.
The car has since been seized by police as a part of the investigation.
“The circumstances surrounding how the vehicle ended up abandoned are suspicious for reasons that are part of the ongoing investigation,” said Staff Sergeant Todd Wiebe of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Investigative Services.
“We are releasing stock images of an older model grey Honda Civic in the hope that the public can help us establish a timeline on its movements.”
People are asked to review their dash cam footage and video surveillance to see if they captured the car.

On Tuesday, the RCMP said they were called to another shooting at a motel on Columbia Street just before 7 pm Monday night that sent one person to the hospital.
In a news release, the RCMP say this is part of an ongoing crime conflict in the city.
When officers arrived at the area of Pemberton Terrace and Frontage Road they located a man with visible injuries and a vehicle damaged by gunfire. The man was taken to this hospital.
Officers heard that a silver car was seen leaving the seen and pictures of a suspect were captured.
“This latest incident is believed to be a result of the ongoing conflict between local drug traffickers, which was also responsible for a series of targeted shootings reported this weekend,” said Staff Sergeant Todd Wiebe, of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Investigative Services.
The suspect was described as:
male
5'10” to 6’
lean build
hunch to his upper back
Wearing: a black baseball hat with white decal on front, black jacket with a sheen to it, dark joggers, black gloves with a red trim around cuff, sunglasses
A police presence remains in the area as officers continue to gather evidence.
In the news release, the Kamloops RCMP say officers from the Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU), Serious Crime Unit, General Investigations Support Team, Forensic Identification Services, Police Dog Services, and the frontlines continue to work around the clock in an effort to further these investigations and suppress the violence occurring.
Police say the detachment is now receiving support for the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit-BC Uniform Gang Enforcement Team.
“As our teams continue their efforts, we’re asking residents to please be aware that these targeted attacks are occurring in public settings and present an increased risk to safety,” said S/Sgt Wiebe.
“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment has multiple resources working tirelessly to advance these investigations and is asking the public to work with us by being aware of their surroundings and being vigilant in reporting suspicious occurrences or suspected criminal activities that could be related.”
The news release says anyone with information including video, dash camera footage, or other details that may assist in furthering these investigations are asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at (250) 828-3000.
