The Kamloops RCMP say they are investigating an unconfirmed threat to the Thompson Rivers University campus.
A news release issued Thursday morning said the RCMP received the report on Wednesday, Mar. 26 at 1 pm.
The unconfirmed threat is being actively investigated to determine if it is reliable, however, the police say threats can often be made to “create disruption and to achieve notoriety,” the news release said.
As a result, there will be an increased police presence on campus this week and throughout the weekend.
“As part of a combined response, we are working with TRU Safety Services to have an increased presence in and around the campus over the next few days,” said Cpl Dana Napier.
“We are asking people to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity.”
The detachment can be reached by calling (250) 828-3000.
The RCMP said they will be working with TRU Community Safety and Emergency Management Risk and Safety Services as the investigation continues.
