Kamloops RCMP say charges are expected against alleged truck thief

A stolen pickup truck was recovered on the North Shore Tuesday night thanks to the quick thinking of the owner.

Around 9:15, the Kamloops RCMP received a report of a theft, in which an older model white, blue and green GMC pickup truck had just been taken from a house on Angus Street.

Police were able to locate the uniquely coloured truck and stopped it on Kicking Horse Drive in Juniper Ridge.

The driver was also arrested.

“Thanks to the updates and information provided by the truck’s owner, frontline officers were able to quickly and safely take a suspect into custody without issue,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

According to a news release, the suspect was handed a court date and later released from police custody.

Charges are expected, police say.

Any potential witnesses, or anyone who caught the truck or alleged theft on their dash cam or home security system, is asked to call the RCMp at (250) 8282-3000 and refer to file 2025-2611.
