The Kamloops RCMP are looking to speak to any witnesses who may have witnessed an accident that left a man in his 60s dead over the weekend.
Mounties received a report of a missing motorcycle rider just before midnight on Sept. 11 after he didn’t return home from a ride on his bike earlier that day.
Officers and the RCMP Air Services patrolled the area near Timber Lake and Lac La Jeune where he was known to frequent but he was not found.
The man was found dead near Lac Le Jeune Road shortly before 1 pm on Monday, a news release said.
Police were called to assist Kamloops Fire Rescue with a report of a single-vehicle motorcycle fatality.
Investigators confirmed it was the missing man and that he appeared to have crashed his Harley Davidson.
“The Kamloops RCMP Traffic Unit is investigating the collision with support from a BC Highway Patrol reconstructionist,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.
“We are asking anyone who may have observed the victim riding in the area or has dash-camera footage available that could be related, to please contact police as soon as possible.”
According to police, the BC Coroners Service is also investigating the man’s death.
Anyone who has more information is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2024-31756.
