The Kamloops RCMP was busy again over the weekend, receiving 354 calls for service between 9 am Friday and Monday morning.
As always, Cpl. Crystal Evelyn highlighted a few of the most notable incidents from the three days, which included a man’s foot allegedly being run over by an impaired driver.
That incident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, as police were called to Carson Crescent around 3:40 am for reports of a single-vehicle collision.
“Officers responded and located a truck crashed into a rock wall,” Evelyn explained. “An intoxicated man was arrested on scene for mischief, and later released as part of the ongoing investigation.”
Shortly after, officers were called to nearby 12th Street and Tranquille Road after learning that a man’s foot was allegedly run over by a vehicle that fled the scene.
While it’s suspected that the two incidents may be linked, the man whose foot was over, who was transported to hospital for treatment, was not cooperative with the investigation.
Elsewhere in Kamloops over the weekend, police were called to the scene of a break and enter in the 1000 block of Lincoln Court around 6:15 pm Sunday.
The biggest item stolen was a Ford pickup truck, which was recovered later in the evening in the 900 block of Ord Road with its interior covered in bear spray.
While the vehicle was found, a set of keys, laptop, motor and compressor are all still missing after the break-in.
And finally, around 1:35 am today, an abandoned 911 call led police to arrest a man for assault.
Evelyn did not provide details other than the call came from a residence on Parkcrest Avenue and the man was held for a bail hearing today before being released with a future court date.
