The Kamloops Y is just about back baby!
According to an announcement from the YMCA-YWCA, the downtown facility is set to reopen this Monday. The opening means that the cardio equipment, weight rooms and more will be available for public use.
"We are thrilled to announce that we are taking steps to reopen our facility and reactivate key programs with a multi-step approach, with the first step beginning on June 15, 2020," wrote the Y. "We are so happy to welcome you back to the Y!"
Starting Monday, the Y will be open from 7 am to 7 pm on weekdays. It will stay open Saturdays from 8 am to 3 pm, though it will close on Sundays and stat holidays. The John Tod Centre on the North Shore will remain closed at this time.
The Y will be following guidelines put in place by public health officials to make sure all residents using the equipment are safe. This includes daily health screenings of members, volunteers, and staff, increased cleaning of high contact surfaces, increased physical distancing, decreased class sizes, and more.
"We will be communicating with you further on the matter of health and safety at your Y later this week to ensure that you are aware of all the new protocols and safety standards. We need your assistance, and we will be relying on you to help us provide a safe and comfortable experience for everyone returning to our facilities."
Once it is safe to do so, the Y will roll out registered playcare times, limited pool usage, private swim lessons, and additional programming.
