Kamloops YMCA-YWCA receives $10K grant from Bell Let's Talk Community Fund

The Kamloops Community YMCA-YWCA was feeling like talking on Monday after receiving a $10,000 grant from the Bell Let's Talk Community Fund.

According to the YMCA-YWCA, the grant will support a sixth Mental Wellness Program to help adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and self-compassion in the Kamloops area.

With the grant, the YMCA-YWCA will be able to have two staff members become certified Mindful-Self Compassion teachers. This will allow the organization to offer the evidence-based 8-week Mindful Self Compassion program in the community.

As a result of the program, more people in Kamloops will have the chance to learn strategies to cultivate the skill of self-compassion through evidence-based training led by qualified mental health professionals.

“We are excited to expand our current mindfulness-based programming in Kamloops and surrounding areas to support more people within our community who are struggling, thanks to the Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund grant,” said Jenna Nickle, Program Manager Mental Wellness Programs, Kamloops Community YMCA-YWCA.
