It’s that time of year again.
The Kamloops RCMP are preparing for their annual Stuff the Cruiser fundraising campaign.
To welcome in the holiday season, officers and volunteers will be returning to Toys R Us on Notre Dame Drive to spread holiday cheer while collecting unwrapped gifts and cash donations for children and youth in the community.
Donations will be collected from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Items will be stuffed into an on-site police cruiser then delivered to Christmas Amalgamated, which will then distribute all the donations to members of the community in need of a helping hand.
“We have always been impressed by the generosity of our residents and local businesses in supporting our annual Stuff the Cruiser toy drive,” said Cpl. Dana Napier.
“Last year’s event at the Real Canadian Superstore resulted in an estimated $5,000 worth of donated merchandise to help make the holidays a little cheerier for those able to donate, and for those who received a gift because of that support.”
Members of the Kamloops Crime Prevention Unit are once again asking people to help any way they can as every little bit helps a great local charity’s effort to spread the Christmas spirit.
A release says the event also serves as an opportunity for the public to get to know some of its community police partners and work together to ensure those who are struggling can enjoy the holidays.
Anyone who is unable to attend the event can still drop unwrapped donations off at the North Shore Community Policing Office located at 915 7th St.
Donations can be dropped off between 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The detachment is closed from noon to 1 pm.
