Kamloops homes evacuated as police respond to report of firearm, 3 people arrested

A significant police presence descended on Ord Road on Friday afternoon after the RCMP was alerted to a firearm in the area.

The weapons report came in shortly after 1 pm and police were told that a woman ran into a residence in the 1700 block of Ord Road with a firearm.

“The Emergency Response Team was called in to support frontline officers,” explained Cpl. Dana Napier. “As part of ongoing safety efforts, nearby residents were evacuated from their homes.”

After a man and woman were safely arrested, investigators learned about a third person that was still inside the home.

The second man was eventually arrested without incident and a firearm was seized.

While the two men have since been released without charges, the woman was held in custody due to outstanding warrants.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and the Kamloops RCMP thanks the public for their cooperation during the incident.
