A 26-year-old Kamloops man has been charged in relation to a robbery, aggravated assault and assaulting a police officer.
Kamloops RCMP officers were called to the area of Angus Street and Mackenzie Avenue on Tuesday, around 12:30 pm, for a report of two people followed by a plea for police, says a release.
Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, spokesperson for the detachment, says officers found a man suffering “serious” injuries.
They were able to locate the suspect nearby, however, he allegedly assaulted one of the officers.
The victim was taken to the hospital for medical care and the officer was uninjured, the release says.
Jamie Jason Gillam, age 26, is charged with one count each of robbery, aggravated assault, assault a police officer, and theft under $5,000.
He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance, scheduled for April 10.
