A 40-year-old Kamloops man has been charged with one count of sexual assault in relation to an investigation that began last July.
On Tuesday, the Kamloops RCMP issued a news release that said Ryan Joseph Gallant has been charged and is due in court on June 13.
The alleged assault took place on July 9 on a walking path between Strathcona Terrace and St. Paul Street West, say the Kamloops RCMP.
At that time, the detachment issued a plea for information, including witnesses statements or surveillance footage, to help further the investigation.
“Since then, the investigation has continued to advance with the support of our General Investigations Support Team and Sex Crimes Unit, and led us to the next stage of the judicial process in which a suspect has been charged and will appear in court,” says Supt. Jeff Pelley, Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Officer in Charge, in the release.
The release says no other information will be released by the detachment because the matter is now before the courts.
