Kamloops man charged after ramming 4 police vehicles in stolen van

A Kamloops man is facing charges for allegedly stealing a vehicle and causing damage to four police vehicles on Monday.

A news release explains that an officer was patrolling near Fortune Drive and Sydney Avenue where he noticed a white van that was reported stolen earlier that day.

Police say the van was stolen from the 1300-block of Dalhousie Drive.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle on Heffley Louis Creek Road, however, four police cruisers were damaged in the process.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported and the suspect was arrested, says Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

Michael Julien Bourlon, 51, faces six charges including dangerous operation of a vehicle, failure to stop for police, possession of stolen property, assaulting a police officer with a weapon, and two counts of resist/obstruct a police officer.

He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
