A Kamloops man is in for a huge payday and potentially a place in poker history.
Aaron Duczak has earned himself a spot at the final table of the 2022 World Series of Poker.
Typically, the final table has nine players, but after a lengthy day seven that ended at 6 am Thursday, organizers decided to reconvene with 10 at the final table on Friday afternoon.
Duczak currently sits fourth in chips at 56 million, just over 27 million less than Norway’s Espen Jorstad and Matthew Su of the United States.
The winner of the WSOP’s main event will take home a cool $10 million and even the 10th place finisher will earn $675,000.
Simply making the final table is a huge feat, as the annual tournament started with 8,663 players.
The tournament is being held at the Bally’s and Paris casinos in Las Vegas.
Duczak is the final Canadian standing, but Vadim Rozin of Thornhill, Ont. and Jimmy Setna of Mississauga, Ont. finished in 12th and 15th respectively.
