Kamloops has its newest food truck, and this one is full of meat!
Valhalla Smoke House officially opened, and they're ready to serve meals all over the River City. Owner Shawn McLeod explained that they'd be offering smoked brisket, pulled pork, burgers, poutine, and more.
"We do smoked brisket, pulled pork, we do burgers, poutine, and everything's got a little twist on it," said McLeod.
McLeod mentioned the name might have come from all the Viking TV shows he watches, though he couldn't confirm it. He adds that his truck strays away from the fast-food label, with all items made in-house daily.
"I don't know if it was just watching too many Viking TV shows or what have you, but it was just coming up with a name... You know, 'Valhalla,' and Vikings tend to barbecue all their food way, way back in the day... So we just thought Valhalla would be kind of cool."
One of McLeod's favourite dishes is "The Loki Burger." This treat is a spicy slab of meat meant to "burn your mouth." Despite having a healthy selection of beef, the food truck also offers veggetarian options.
"We have a burger called the Loki Burger, and it's a hot burger. The sauce is made with Thai chilis, onions, and honey, and it's all sauteed up with special spices in there. It's meant to burn your mouth.
Valhalla Smoke House primarily sets up shop at Jaxsen-Pacific Marine and Motorsport. They are expected to be all around the city as the summer gets going.
