Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) is partnering with several community organizations for a large celebration to mark National Indigenous Peoples Day on Saturday.
The Tk̓emlúps Arbour will host dozens of family-friendly events from 10 am to 3 pm.
“This is a momentous occasion for our community, as we come together to showcase and celebrate the incredible resilience, culture, and spirit of Indigenous Peoples,” said Kúkpi7 Rosanne Casimir, Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc.
“We invite everyone to join us in this important celebration of identity, unity, and cultural appreciation.”
Cultural performances will include Indigenous music, drumming, jigging, fiddlers and dances.
There will be several vendors on site selling handcrafted art and crafts from local artisans.
Several educational workshops will also be happening and will include storytelling, language sessions and other cultural teachings.
Attendees will have the opportunity to try traditional and contemporary Indigenous dishes while visiting the celebration.
People will get the chance to participate in or just sit back and watch several hands-on experiences including traditional games and demonstrations.
Tk̓emlúps is partnering with the Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society, ASK Wellness Society, Two Rivers Métis Society, Lii Michif Otipemisiwak, and the City of Kamloops to host the festivities.
The event is free and open to all members of the community.

“We are proud to support this meaningful gathering that fosters understanding, a vibrant local economy, and reconciliation.”
