School is back in session in just a couple of weeks and that marks a service change for Kamloops transit.
September also marks the start of fare increases.
Weekday schedules for routes that service Thompson Rivers University and all schools will be increased, effective Sept. 2.
A service expansion will also go into effect for handyDART services, which will include service on Sundays from 9 am to 9 pm. BC Transit says holiday service will match fixed-route transit service.
“This service expansion for Kamloops’ handyDART service has been made possible by an increase in local government and provincial funding,” said BC Transit.
Starting Sept. 1, fares will be increasing.
Cash single rides, including for handyDART, will be going up from $2 to $2.25.
Day passes will increase from $4 to $4.50 while monthly adult passes will increase to $55.
Concession monthly passes will increase to $35.
Student semester passes will remain the same at $100.
“This fare change is the result of a City of Kamloops fare review that was approved by Kamloops City Council in May,” said BC Transit.
“This is the first fare increase since 2011.”
