A Kamloops woman was handed driving prohibitions, had her vehicle impounded and handed several tickets after being caught driving impaired early Sunday morning.
Officers were patrolling near Fortune Drive and Chestnut Avenue shortly before 8 am on Mar. 23 when they noticed a white SUV allegedly speeding.
A traffic stop was attempted but the woman reportedly drove into oncoming traffic before hitting a curb that sent her back into her lane. Her vehicle came to a rest near Holly Avenue.
The woman was handed a 90-day driving ban, had her vehicle impounded for 30 days and was given violation tickets for excessive speeding, driving contrary to a licence restriction and failing to keep right of a single broken/solid line.
The women and two passengers were arrested for being intoxicated in public and taken to the cells to sober up safely, police said in a news release.
This was one of four highlights from this past weekend provided by the Kamloops RCMP’s media relations officer Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.
