The Blue Grotto is hosting a Lethbridge-based blues band this weekend.
Paul Kype and Texas Flood are due to perform Friday and Saturday night at 9 pm both nights.
The band performed at the Kamloops venue in 2012.
Texas Flood, based in Lethbridge, Alberta, highlights Paul Kype along with veteran musicians Steve Keenan on the other lead guitar and vocals; Kurt Ceisla on bass and vocals and Brady Varguson on the drums.
Over the years, Paul has played a lot of gigs, a news release said. He’s been a member of various bands, playing festivals and venues all over western Canada.
The news release said his inspiration is drawn from the influences of guitar legends such as Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
The Flood, which formed in 1993, was originally a Stevie Ray Vaugh tribute band but has expanded and plays shows all across Canada.
Kype and Keenan have released several CDs over the years, with Kype also producing recordings for other artists. The news release said work continues on Texas Flood’s latest album, “Hard Roads and High Water,” which is due out sometime in 2025.
Tickets are $10 and available at the door.
