Licence plate made out of paper and tape leads to drug seizure, say Kamloops RCMP

The Kamloops RCMP say they seized around 100 grams of suspected illegal drugs yesterday morning.

In a news release, the police say they were helping with a separate call on the 2100-block of the Trans-Canada Highway East around 11:50 am.

A short while later, the responding officers noticed a suspicious licence plate on a white Chrysler 300.

The officers were able to confirm that the vehicle was reported as stolen.

According to the police, the plates that caught their attention were made of paper and tape.

The driver was nowhere to be found but a person was found in the back seat of the car, police say.

Responding officers also found about 100 grams of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl and paraphernalia often used with drug trafficking.

All the items were seized for destruction and the stolen car was towed.

An investigation is ongoing and the Kamloops RCMP are asking any potential witnesses, or anyone with dash cam or security footage, to give the detachment a call at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file 2025-2574.
