Major Crime Unit investigating after missing Kamloops man found dead

A missing Kamloops man has been found dead.

Michael Scott, 41, was reported missing on Sept. 7 and was last seen by his family in his truck early in the morning of Sept. 3.

Sadly, on Sept. 20, Scott’s body was discovered in a rural area of Kamloops.

The Southeast District RCMP’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) has taken over the investigation and is working to determine whether Scott’s death is a result of foul play.

While the RCMP didn’t specify where his body was found, investigators are looking for video footage from the Strawberry Hill area between when he went missing and when his body was found.

“Investigators are working to determine Scott’s movements from Sept. 3 up until Sept. 20 in an effort to determine his activities prior to his death,” said S/Sgt. Jason Smart.

Smart added that there is nothing at this time to suggest there’s a threat to the public.
