Kamloops residents who regularly take the city bus will need to pay close attention to the schedule on Sunday.
According to BC Transit, major changes are coming to routes because of the Kamloops Santa Claus Parade. Many downtown streets will be closed as early as 11 am and will affect the routing of all bus routes.
Beginning at 11 am until 6 pm, all bus stops on 3rd Avenue between Columbia Street and Seymour Street will be closed. All inbound buses will stop at Royal Inland Hospital on Columbia Street and will use 4th Ave instead of 3rd Ave. A Temporary Stop will be located on 4th Ave northbound at St. Paul Street.
Also at 11 am, stops on Battle Street between 3rd Avenue and Strathcona Terrace will be closed on the #7 Aberdeen-Battle bus route.
At 3:30 pm, all outbound stops on Lansdowne Street between the Lansdowne Exchange and the Overlander Bridge will be closed. Inbound stops on West Victoria Street and Seymour Street will be closed from the Overlander Bridge to 4th Avenue. Stops on 4th Avenue between Seymour Street and St. Paul Street will also not run so residents are urged to use the next stop to the south.
Effective 3:45 pm, the Lansdowne Bus Exchange will be closed and all departures and arrivals will be relocated to a temporary Exchange on St. Paul Street between 5th and 6th Ave.
All bus routes should return to normal by Monday. For more information, click here.
