It was a rather sad day for the Mustard Seed Kamloops as they had to make a disappointing announcement.
The organization made it official that they would be closing their Men's Recovery Program to develop stronger, more robust programming and services for the Kamloops area.
“Our team is looking at how we can transition our programs to better serve our community and homeless neighbours who want to remain sober,” said Diane Down, Managing Director of TMS Kamloops. “After running the program for years, it was time for our team to ensure that what we are doing today is in line with best practices and evidence to ensure that those we serve are supported in a way that maximizes their successful outcomes in the future.”
The closure is effective on July 31st. Residents currently in the program will be transitioned into other housing opportunities to finish their recovery with the support they need.
“We thank our supporters, volunteers, and donors for their support as we make this change, anticipating new programming to start as soon as this September. We are excited about the future of the programs we operate in Kamloops because we know they will help change lives.”
