‘No more rent’: Kamloops woman eyeing homeownership, Vegas trip after $503K online slots win

A Kamloops woman is more than $500,000 richer after hitting a massive online slots jackpot.

Tammy Harden was playing MegaJackpots Cleopatra on PlayNow.com during her break at work on a recent Friday afternoon when she won big.

She was in disbelief of the numbers that flashed across her phone screen, so she contacted the BCLC to verify the win.

The BCLC confirmed it – she had won $503,116.45 – so she made the understandable decision of taking the rest of the afternoon off of work.

The first person that Harden told of her life-changing win was her daughter.

“She didn’t believe me and when I showed her, she used a bad word,” she explained. “My son cried and said it’s going to change my life.”

Harden wants to take her sisters on a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate her windfall, but has bigger plans to set aside money to purchase a new home.

She summed up her thoughts on that with three simple words: “No more rent!”

Harden will take some time to consider plans for the rest of the money, but plans on sharing some of her winnings with loved ones.

“It’s unreal, it’s amazing,” she said of the win. “It’s just a really happy feeling!”
