(UPDATE: April 1 @ 3:20 pm) - The investigation into the circumstances behind Wednesday's heavy police presence on the North Shore and the lockdown of Norkam Senior Secondary School is ongoing.
The Kamloops RCMP received a call involving a "very serious and specific" threat to Norkam Secondary around 1:40 pm.
"As part of its response, RCMP followed its normal procedure to contact the school district and provide it with information about the situation," explained an RCMP release.
"RCMP recommended the school district implement its school safety procedures, which resulted in the lockdown of NorKam Secondary and some of its neighbouring schools."
Police continued to investigate the threat using support from multiple RCMP units, including air units.
As officers obtained more information and the initial threat did not materialize, police and the school district coordinated the safe exit of staff and students.
The investigation into the nature of the threat is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.

(Original Story: March 31 @ 2:30 pm) - The Kamloops RCMP is requesting that the public stay away from the area around Norkam Secondary School.
That includes parents who would typically be picking up their kids around 3 pm.
The school, which is near the intersection of 12th Street and Tranquille Road, is currently on lockdown.
The RCMP didn’t provide any details on the lockdown, only saying that it’s “part of an investigation.”
