(UPDATE: Nov. 5 @ 11:15 am) - Students and staff have returned to NorKam Secondary School.
They were evacuated between 8-9 am this morning after the Kamloops RCMP received a report of a threat at the school.
It led to a heavy police presence in the area.
"Students were relocated to an alternative location out of an abundance of caution while police investigated," explained an RCMP release.
"As more information was obtained and the threat did not materialize, police and the school district coordinated the safe return of staff and students to the school."
Police are still investigating the incident and no further information is available at this time.
(Original story: Nov. 5 @ 9:25 am) - The Kamloops RCMP is currently investigating a “threat” at NorKam Secondary School.
Police received the threat around 8:15 am today and the school has since been evacuated.
“Students were relocated to an alternative location out of an abundance of caution while police investigate,” explained an RCMP release.
All students and staff are safe, the RCMP confirmed.
Officers are working closely with School District 73 and are asking parents and members of the public to avoid the area around NSS while the investigation is ongoing.
