Off-duty Lillooet officer helps intervene in Kamloops metal pipe attack

An initial report of a person having been cut with a machete evolved into the Kamloops RCMP stopping an assault in progress yesterday.

Just after 1:30 pm on Thursday, frontline officers were called to the 300 block of Victoria Street after several bystanders reported that a man had been cut with a machete.

Kamloops officers, alongside an off-duty Lillooet officer, arrived on the scene and intervened in an assault in progress where a man was allegedly attacking another man with a metal pipe.

“Police located the four males involved in both incidents, who were known to each other,” wrote the RCMP.

“A 31-year-old male was arrested for assault with a weapon. One male was treated by paramedics for minor injuries but did not attend the hospital.”

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and anyone with information or footage is asked to contact the police at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-28351.
