The super blue blood moon made its appearance in the early morning hours today and photographers were up before dawn to capture some amazing visuals of the rare sight.
We rounded up some of the most amazing shots captured from the west coast of North America, but local photographers were also up early to get a glimpse of this rare moon.

Last night's moon was special for a few reasons, according to NASA: It was the third in a series of supermoons; the second full moon of the month, commonly known as the blue moon; and it passed through the Earth's shadow giving those in the right location a total lunar eclipse with a reddish tint, known as a blood moon.
