PHOTOS: Kamloops couple welcomes New Year’s baby

Kamloops, meet baby Ryan! The proud parents’ of Kamloops’ New Year’s baby have now released some photos and the name of the first newborn of 2018.

Chen Chen and Rockey Yu welcomed Ryan Yu at 6:04 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Royal Inland Hospital, weighing six pounds, 14 ounces. Ryan is the first child for the couple, who live in Kamloops.

B.C.’s New Year’s baby was a girl born at Surrey Memorial Hospital at 12:00:09 a.m. weighing eight pounds, seven ounces.

These are the first of more than 44,000 babies who are expected to be born in British Columbia in 2018.
