Passenger traffic is now at about 80% of pre-COVID levels, says Kamloops airport director

In the latest update on passenger numbers at Kamloops airport, Ed Ratuski, the managing director, says the first quarter of the year reflects the recovery of the aviation industry after the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the first three months of the year, Kamloops saw 80,867 passengers travel through the airport.

This is a %50.6 change from the 53,690 passengers recorded during the same time as last year, Ratuski explains.

January saw the second highest number of passengers while February only saw a bit more than 25,700 travellers.

March saw the highest number of passengers with 27,838 people heading in and out of the airport.

Those records are a 52.6%, 56.2% and 44% change from the same months, respectively.

Ratuski says passenger traffic is currently at about 80% of pre-COVID levels.

“We are encouraged to see that both WestJet and Air Canada have included additional flights to Calgary and Vancouver respectively effective May 1,” Ratuski adds.

“We are also pleased to welcome Flair Airlines non-stop service to Edmonton on June 18.”
