Pedestrian struck and killed by train in Kamloops

An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a train in Kamloops this morning.

According to police, emergency crews were notified by Canadian Pacific Railway about the incident near Kelly Douglas Road and Vicars Road around 6 am.

Kamloops RCMP officers arrived at the scene and found a person dead nearby.

“The collision occurred in an area near a tire plant, across the highway from a motel,” explained a Kamloops RCMP release.

“If anyone witnessed or captured any surveillance or dash camera footage from early this morning or overnight that could be connected, please contact police as soon as possible with any information that may be available.”

The release added that the investigation is in its “very early” stages and the BC Coroners Service will also be conducting its own concurrent, fact-finding probe.

Anyone with information that could help authorities establish what transpired before the pedestrian was struck is urged to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
