Police investigating late-night stabbing in Kamloops

The RCMP is searching for a suspect after a stabbing that sent one man to hospital.

Officers were called to the area of Tranquille Road and Don Street around 10:15 pm Wednesday for reports of the stabbing.

The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance and is expected to recover, but the outcome may have been worse if not for a helpful stranger.

“Luckily, a passerby found the victim in a bush and applied pressure to the injured area while emergency responders were en route,” explained Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

Evelyn noted that the assault is believed to be a targeted incident, but it's still early in the investigation and police are trying to piece together the details.

“Little information is available related to the attacker, other than that the person was allegedly wearing a complete face mask,” Evelyn said. “The attack also may have occurred in another location.”

Kamloops residents are urged to check their security and dash camera footage from the surrounding area to see if anything was captured that could advance the investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kamloops RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000.
