Kamloops RCMP is looking to the public for help in identifying a man who is connected to a jewellery store robbery and hit and run.
According to police, at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, a man stole over $4,000 in jewellery from the Michael Hill Jewellery store in Aberdeen Mall. The man then took off on foot and got into a black SUV that was parked outside.
Police mentioned that the SUV had tinted windows, large black after-market styled rims, a white front bumper, and no front license plate.
Later that same day at 10 p.m., a man asked to rent a room at the Days Inn Hotel. He was told no rooms were available so he left. Once the man got into his vehicle, he backed out of the parking space at a high speed and struck a woman who was standing in the parking lot. The woman received minor injuries and was treated by paramedics.
Surveillance video from both the mall and hotel show the same vehicle was used in the robbery and hit and run. Photos of the suspect are similar. The suspect is described as a Caucasian in his 30s who stands at 5'10" with a medium build.
Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250)828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
