RCMP seize drugs, guns from rental vehicle in rural Kamloops

The Tk’emlúps RCMP seized a significant amount of drugs, cash and three firearms during a traffic stop late last week.

During a patrol of Paul Lake Road last Thursday, RCMP officers noticed suspicious behaviour linked to a rental vehicle that was parked in a gas station parking lot.

As part of their investigation, the police officers confirmed the driver was prohibited from driving, which led to their arrest.

The vehicle was searched and the RCMP found restricted guns, over $15,000 in cash and thousands of grams of different illegal drugs.

“Illegal firearms and illicit drugs in our communities remain a targeted concern”, said Superintendent Jeff Pelley.

“We continue to proactively target and disrupt those persons involved in the drug trade, and in this instance yielded an immediate benefit, making all our communities safer.”

The driver was released pending several Criminal Code, Firearms Act And Motor Vehicle Act charge recommendations.

The RCMP said their investigation remains active and ongoing.
