Kamloops residents who do their shopping at the Sa-Hali Safeway will only have a few months to say their goodbyes as the store is set to get a brand new rebrand.
On November 23rd, the Safeway will close for renovations where it will become the newest FreshCo, which is Sobeys discount supermarket chain.
The store will be one of six B.C. locations opening in the Spring of 2020 and one of 18 openings across Western Canada. Other stores opening across B.C. include one in Vernon, Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, two in Kelowna, and more.
"At FreshCo, we are committed to providing our customers the freshest foods at a price that can’t be beat,” said a statement from Sobeys. “Our customers have access to fresh food items and produce, while also offering a variety of multicultural foods. FreshCo’s low prices and diverse product offering will help customers in our communities make every dollar count.”
The company confirmed that it would ensure the conversions won’t impact pharmacy customers.
“We will continue to operate temporary pharmacy locations while renovations and construction are underway... “The FreshCo locations will open with pharmacy departments where our customers can expect the same great service from our pharmacy teams.”
Sobeys will work with employees and unions to ensure the terms of their collective agreements are met as the company works through this transition.
The exact opening dates for all six stores will be announced as they are confirmed.
