It still feels a little like summer, but you can feel that we’ve transitioned to fall during the cooler mornings and evenings.
That transition will continue quickly over the coming weeks and there will soon be snow on the ground and temperatures around or below freezing.
With that in mind, the Salvation Army Kamloops is kicking off Coats for Folks today, an effort to collect winter coats for those in need.
The organization is once again partnering with Thompson Cleaners & Tailors to collect gently-worn winter coats for men, women and children.
“Whether you have several coats, you are getting a new style, or they no longer fit just right, someone can use that coat,” the Salvation Army explains.
You can drop off winter coats at Thompson Cleaners & Tailors in Sahali Mall between Oct. 11-25.
They will be cleaned there before the Salvation Army works with partners in Kamloops to distribute them to those who need a warm winter coat.
You can learn more about the Coats for Folks program by calling the Salvation Army Kamloops at 250-554-1611 (ext. 200).
