A long time hotel and restaurant in the downtown area were recently purchased by Invictus Properties, the same company behind the Delta Kamloops hotel and The Hive commercial project.
Scott’s Inn and Restaurant, located at the corner on 11th Avenue between Battle Street an dNicola Street, has been around for more than 60 years.
Invictus, which belongs to the same parent company as Rocky Mountaineer, says the hotel will be used to house employees who work on board the trains.
The hotel will be used exclusively by them during the operating season between April and October.
“We are proud to continue our investment in Kamloops with this acquisition of the Scott’s Inn and Restaurant,” said Tristan Armstrong, President and CEO, Armstrong Group.
“Kamloops is truly at the heart of our company and we look forward to continuing to deliver tangible, positive impacts in this community where our team lives, works and operates.”
Monica Dickinson, CEO of Tourism Kamloops, says Rocky Mountaineer has been a strong pattern in Kamloops for over 30 years.
Kamloops houses the company’s maintenance facility which employs about 80 people. It is also the midpoint overnight stop on two of its rail routes.
“We are thrilled by this further investment of Invictus Properties in our hospitality industry and the benefits it will bring to both visitors and community members,” adds Dickinson.
Scott’s Inn will maintain its current operations teams and the restaurant is not expected to change.
