The BC Ministry of Environment has issued a smoky skies bulletin for Kamloops and surrounding communities due to the wildfire.
The wildfire that started early yesterday afternoon continues to burn on the north side of Thompson River, east of Kamloops.
The fire E of Shuswap Rd. in Kamloops is ~380 ha. Air support continues to work, and firefighters will remain overnight to increase containment ahead of tomorrow’s expected high temps/strong winds. According to Environment Canada, the smoke has the potential to build up in Kamloops if the wind changes directions drastically.
People with pre-existing health conditions, the elderly, infants, children and sensitive individuals are more likely to experience health effects from the smoke.
