Special air quality statement issued for South Thompson

The BC Ministry of Environment has issued a smoky skies bulletin for Kamloops and surrounding communities due to the wildfire.

The wildfire that started early yesterday afternoon continues to burn on the north side of Thompson River, east of Kamloops.

According to Environment Canada, the smoke has the potential to build up in Kamloops if the wind changes directions drastically.

People with pre-existing health conditions, the elderly, infants, children and sensitive individuals are more likely to experience health effects from the smoke.

Visit the BC Air Quality website to stay updated on all air conditions.
