The community of Sun Peaks is gearing up to host its first-ever community garage sale this Saturday.
According to event co-organizer Vince Cooper, Over 100 families have brought in their items in a hope to make this first event a success.
"We have a June Fair community garage sale at Sun Peaks," said. "We've got over 125 families contributing their best treasures. I'm the guy who's kind of coordinating it, everyone's dropped their stuff off at my house so my house has been bombarded with a bunch of unbelievable, quality stuff."
"I've got four 15-foot trailers full and we are having a huge fundraiser event up at Sun Peaks."
Cooper explained that all contributions from the garage sale go towards helping their local students.
"It all goes to our Sun Peaks PAC, our Parent Association Committee, as well as the Sun Peaks Education Society. We have our school in Sun Peaks from kindergarten to grade 7 in the school district, and then our high school is in the Kamloops at Cool Distance Learning Program."
Cooper mentioned that he hopes the garage sale turns into an annual event for the community.
"First time, this is our first but were are going to make it an annual event. The resort has been generous to us in giving us the Annex, they've also put us on their calendar so its a calendar event for every year following. So it's pretty exciting and a pretty big deal for us Sun Peakers."
The event will also feature a bake as well as a car wash. All residents in and outside of Sun Peaks are welcome to attend.
Residents can catch the event between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. On Saturday at the Annex.
