RCMP seek missing backpack after Kamloops victim seriously injured in ‘senseless’ attack

The Kamloops RCMP are asking for the public’s help locating a backpack that went missing after a serious assault on Saturday.

Police were called to the 700-block of Notre Dame Drive around 5 am on Sept. 26.

Due to the severity of the assault, the RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit is now investigating the assault.

“This incident was a senseless attack,” said Cpl. Dave Marshall.

“The victim is known to be a kind and generous person who is described as helpful to other residents at the Merit Place Shelter.”

The RCMP said the victim is suffering from serious life-threatening injuries.

Although a suspect has been identified, arrested and remains in custody, the RCMP are hoping the public can track down the backpack.

Police believe it was likely discarded somewhere in the Sahali, North Shore or downtown area of Kamloops.

A news release said it could have possibly been dumped near a wooded or shoreline area between the Merit Place Shelter and the 200-block of Tranquille Road.

No other details are being released at this time.

However, witnesses or anyone with information about the backpack are urged to call the RCMP detachment at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file 2025-32253.
