Students from the Twin Rivers Education Centre, Four Directions and Bridges are once again under the same roof.
School District 73 announced on Friday that the programs have made the move into Happyvale Elementary School. The move comes after renovations were made to refurbish the gym as well as add four portables.
TREC principal Cory Carmichael explained that it was a big win to see all the students together again.
“It will be phenomenal, we will have consistency and a little more permanence," said Carmichael. "We can make this our home for now, and build our community back together.”
Currently, there are 237 students registered in the three programs. This move means all students displaced by the Parckrest Elementary fire are now in the classrooms they will remain in until the school can be replaced.
“Once again, we cannot thank our community partners enough for their generous support for our students and staff throughout this entire process,” said Alison Sidow, School Superintendent. “We are witnessing the determination and focus of our SD73 maintenance, IT and staff. Together we have all proven how Kamloops can rise to meet a difficult situation, work together, and move forward.”
