Thompson Rivers University is preparing for its annual Day of Giving, which raises funds to support students.
Last year, Day of Giving raised money for lab kits for nursing and respiratory therapy students, equipment they typically purchase themselves.
This year, the goal is to raise $48,000 in 48 hours.
Starting Thursday, Feb. 29, donors are invited to choose their cause at tru.ca/givingday.
You can select a featured fund or contribute to any fund of your choice from across TRU’s faculties and schools.
“We encourage donations of any amount during Day of Giving. The collective support has a real, meaningful impact for students,” said TRU Associate Vice-President Advancement Kim Cassar Torreggiani.
“Kamloops is such a giving community, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone’s support and generosity.”
This year’s Giving Day will feature new giving challenges and on-campus student engagement activities to fuel excitement about the annual event.
That includes a booth at the Mar. 1 Kamloops Blazers Game.
The initiative to raise funds for nursing students returns as a featured fund this year alongside general scholarships, bursaries and awards; TRU WolfPack scholarships; the Williams Lake Endowed Fund for Student Support; the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada; and areas of greatest need.
TRU Day of Giving runs from midnight on Feb. 29 to 11:59 pm on March 1.
