Thompson Rivers University’s annual Day of Giving raised more than double its goal with all funds directly supporting students.
This year, the event departed from the 48-hour donation window used in previous years.
Regardless of the shorter donation window, this year’s campaign saw more individual donors and far surpassed last year’s record of over $81,000.
The Day of Giving was held in late February and raised an astounding $105,997 in just 24 hours.
According to the university, a total of 193 donors, including alumni, long-time individual supporters, organizations and new contributors, supported the event.
Donors were able to choose from a variety of funds to make their donations to.
All the money raised will support various scholarships and bursaries to support students at the Kamloops and Williams Lake campuses.
“Day of Giving is one of my favourite days of the year. I get emotional watching support pour in from the community knowing how critical those dollars are to provide financial support for university students,” said Kim Cassar Torreggiani, associate vice-president Advancement.
“It’s a day where, no matter how much you give, every little bit makes a difference.”
