Former star athletes Theoren Fleury, Dante Bichette, and Darryl Sittler will be in Kamloops for a star-studded cause next weekend.
The three will join Andy Bhatti at the National Softball Association World Series to raise awareness on childhood sexual abuse, trauma, and mental health problems.
During the event, Andy Bhatti Interventions and Addiction Services will be giving away two beds to attend The Cabin Treatment Centre in Thailand. The beds will be handed out to one man and one woman who Bhatti finds needs it most.
In addition to the all-expense-paid trip to Thailand, residents will also have a chance to get autographs with the celebrities and take part in a silent auction. Included in the silent auction, which has close to $30,000 worth of sports memorabilia, is a signed Pavel Bure Vancouver Canucks jersey, a signed Chris Pronger St. Louis Blues jersey, a signed Sidney Crosby Pittsburgh Penguins jersey, and more. All proceeds from the auction will go to supporting mental health issues.
Fleury, the former Calgary Flame, will also take on Former MLB slugger Bichette in the home run derby during the weekend of softball at 7:30 pm.
All the action goes down on August 31st at the Tournament Capital Ranch. For more information, click here.
