UPDATE: Dream Home Lottery value packs sold out in just 3 days

(UPDATE: April 6 @ 11:30 a.m.) — Value packs for the Y Dream Home Lottery have sold out in record time this year.

Value packs (five tickets for the price of four) were snatched up in just two-and-a-half days after tickets went on sale earlier this week. Single tickets are still available but, at this rate, they won't last long!

The lottery sold out in just 23 days last year so organizers have added a 50/50 draw worth $100,000.

Get all the details and ticket purchase information on the Dream Home lottery website.

(STORY: April 3) — If you’re feeling lucky, now is the time to test your odds. Tickets for the 2018 Y Dream Home lottery went on sale today and hopefuls can tour the house starting Saturday.

The annual lottery is a fundraiser for the Kamloops YMCA-YWCA — its biggest campaign of the year — and sees one lucky winner walk away with a brand new house or the opportunity to sell it for tax-free cash. The draw will take place on July 4.

The 2018 Dream Home is located at 2706 Beachmount Crescent in Westsyde and valued at $653,300. The three-bedroom home features advanced technology including Google Home voice controls throughout the entire house.

Tickets for the Dream Home Lottery sold out in just 23 days last year, so organizers have added a 50/50 draw to the mix.

Spokesperson Bryce Herman said there were 300 people who requested to be alerted when the 2018 lottery began after missing out on tickets in 2017. This year, they are hoping to keep up with increasing demand and make sure more people get a shot at a prize.

There are 13,000 dream home tickets available in total. They cost $100 each or $400 for value packs of five tickets (only 1,040 available). You can purchase them online here or find them for sale at several locations around the city. There are 503 additional prizes to be won, the odds to win being 1/26.

50/50 tickets will only be available at the Dream Home or at either one of the Kamloops YMCA-YWCA locations.

Open houses will be held at the Dream Home from April 7 to June 24 on Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The house is built through an award-winning partnership between the central Interior chapter of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA-CI) and the School of Trades and Technology at Thompson Rivers University.

CHBA-CI members donate their time and supplies to the training house, which sees trades students get real-world experience.
