Summer is well underway and the city is buzzing with activities, events and festivals.
With the return of the Twin Rivers Drive-In, Kamloops residents can add one more activity on to their summer to-do list.
This year, the drive-in will be located beside the Tournament Capital Ranch (5355 Yellowhead Highway) in Rayleigh and will be playing movies every Friday and Saturday night until Sept. 23.
“After you take the turn from the highway to the TCR, cross the train tracks, and keep to the right of each fork in the road going past all of the sport fields until you reach the drive-in gate,” explains the Kamloops Film Festival (KFS) in a release.
Films begin at dusk and audio will be transmitted via radio at 100.9FM.
There will be a fully stocked concession stand available with all your favourite movie snacks available as well as on-site washrooms.
KFS is partnering with Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc and will be showing two Canadian and Indigenous films for the opening weekend.
Starting at 9:30 pm on Friday night is Night Raiders, a post-war future film where a mother joins an underground group of vigilantes to reay and rescue her daughter from a state-run institution.
Run Woman Wun will be starting at 9:30 pm on Saturday night. “Single mum learns how to reclaim her dreams, family and honour her life, all thanks to an unlikely coach,” says KFS.
Next weekend will be a perfect one for families with Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and The Super Mario Bros. Movie playing.
Tickets are available online at thekfs.ca and at the Paramount Theatre Box Office until 2 hours before show time, after that they will only be available at the gate.
